Werner M. Bahlsen withdraws from the Management Board to join the Governence Board

  • The inclusion of the next Bahlsen generation
  • The Management Board will jointly head company operations

Werner M. Bahlsen (69) withdraws from the Management Board to join the Governence Board of the Bahlsen Group. The current members of the Management Board, Daniela Mündler, Michael Hähnel, Scott Brankin, as well as (starting in the 3rd quarter of the year) Jörg Hönemann, will jointly head future company operations. For the first time in recent Bahlsen history, no member of the Bahlsen family will be on the Management Board. The Governence Board is responsible for the long-term strategic alignment of the Bahlsen Group.

Werner M. Bahlsen will head the newly founded Governence Board. Further members of the Board, which will meet about five times annually, are:

  • Peter Barrenstein PhD, former Director at McKinsey & Company,
  • Matthias Becker PhD, Managing Director of the Hülsta Corporate Group,
  • Jörg Rheinboldt, CEO Axel Springer Plug & Play Accelerator,
  • and Johannes Bahlsen.

As Werner M. Bahlsen states, “With Johannes, my eldest son, on the Governence Board, as a family representative, we include the next Bahlsen generation early on. We consider it a great opportunity to have both generations discussing the long-term alignment of the company together.”

“My step into the Governence Board is a logical next step for me. In the last three years, we, the Management Board, and the family, together, have worked intensely on realigning the company: we have defined the ‘why’, our values, and our brand essence. We have shaped our goals for the year 2025 and have developed our strategy. The company is very well-prepared for the future, and the Management Board has my full confidence. Bahlsen is, at this moment, best aligned to achieve the targeted international growth.”
