We choose our raw material with care

As part of our responsibility for the entire value chain, we place a strong focus on the sourcing of raw materials. For us, responsible sourcing means promoting transparency and traceability – to identify and act on the most effective levers for greater sustainability.

Wheat from controlled contract farmin

For us, sustainability begins in the field. That is why we rely on wheat flour from 100% controlled contract farming – sourced regionally from carefully selected partners in Germany and Poland. This model enables full traceability all the way back to the field, allowing us to monitor the entire supply chain and ensure transparency.
Our partners use selected wheat varieties and proven cultivation methods. Regular inspections by DEG ensure that high standards are upheld. Through fixed purchase volumes and guaranteed prices, we create reliability and planning security for our farmers.
In 2024, we launched a forward-looking initiative with the innovative startup Klim to promote regenerative farming practices. Together, we’re working toward sustainable agriculture that benefits both the environment and people.

Our palm oil is RSPO certified

Palm oil plays a role in many of our products. It is super versatile — spreadable, heat-stable, long-lasting, and neutral in taste.

Yes, palm oil is controversial — deforestation for plantations, especially in Indonesia and Malaysia, is a serious issue. But compared to other oils, palm oil yields much more from less land. Alternatives like soy or rapeseed need up to five times more land* for the same amount of oil.

That’s why we believe the right way forward is to keep using palm oil — but to do so responsibly.

Since 2011, we have been a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and actively support sustainable practices. All of our palm oil is 100% RSPO Segregated certified, which means it is fully traceable to certified plantations. Our aim: protect natural habitats, prevent deforestation, uphold human rights, and support climate action.

Our Cocoa: certified, committed, and collaborativ

Cocoa gives many of our products their unique taste — from cookies and bars to fillings. But growing cocoa also comes with major challenges. We take that responsibility seriously.

All of our cocoa is 100% Rainforest Alliance certified. We chose this partnership because the Rainforest Alliance works worldwide to protect biodiversity and improve working conditions in farming — for the benefit of both people and nature.

And we go beyond certification. Since 2014, we have supported CABOZ in Côte d’Ivoire, an organization that helps improve life in rural communities. They run projects in healthcare, clean water, education, women's empowerment, and more — making cocoa farming more sustainable for everyone involved.

Responsibility for every egg

Every egg we use comes from cage-free farms — either barn or free-range. No cages, no exceptions.

We work with KAT-certified farms in Germany and neighboring EU countries. KAT ensures full traceability and regular animal welfare checks. Our audits don’t stop at the farm either — we also check upstream in the supply chain.
